If you’ve read my blog, you know that I think the Windows Live Essentials version of Movie Maker for Windows 7 stinks compared to Windows Movie Maker 2.6 that came with Windows XP, but that you can download and install 2.6 thanks to Microsoft relenting under massive pressure to bring it back.

If you use Windows 7, you can head to http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=34 and download the 2.6 package and install it.

However, there are some features of the Live version that are pretty cool and conspicuously absent from the old version. Fear not: a new third party upgrade package does some GREAT things for 2.6, and really brings it up to date. This is a phenomenal package and I’m so glad I found it. Check it out:
