Notes for Irl Francis Grone:
Irl Francis Grone was born January 19, 1898, near Bruning, Nebraska, the eldest son of George Washington Grone
and Lillie McMahon Grone. He passed away at his home in Diller, Nebraska, June 10, 1979.
On June 15, 1921, he was Married to Sarah M. Clemmens at Hebron. Four children were born to them. A daughter,
Lorna Mae and son Dean, and two children who died in infancy, Robert, May 23, 1923, and Virginia, January 21, 1931.
Sarah passed away July 6, 1931.
He was united in marriage to Blanche Hillgren of Geneva on August 23, 1933. To them a daughter, Marilyn, was
born. Blanche died May 1, 1973.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and brother Doyle.
He and Janet Tyler were married June 13, 1974, in Diller where they made their home.
He grew to manhood in and near Bruning. He was engaged in farming near Ong, Nebraska from 1923 until 1943,
then near Plymouth until 1946, when he moved to his farm near Steele City. He took pride in his registered cattle that he
raised for many years. Several annual cattle sales were held at the Grone farm.
An active member of the Steele City Presbyterian church, he had served several times as an elder and as a trustee.
He enjoyed life and each member of his family was special to him. Those surviving are his wife Janet of Diller, son
Dean and daughter-in-law Marjorie of Steele City, daughter Lorna Mae and son-in-law Robert Sanner of Davenport,
daughter Marilyn Ann and son-in-law Dee Swett of Steele City, 15 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, his brother
Harold of Davenport, step-children, Frances and Husband Yilman Lee of Hilo, Hawaii; Gloria and Husband Gene Cannon
of St. Cloud Minnesota; Neil Tyler and wife Cassandra of Willman, Minnesota; 12 step-grandchildren and one step great
grandchild. He will also be missed by his cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services were June 13, in the Steele City Presbyterian church with Rev. Ronnie Eschliman officiating.
Vernon Cassell was soloist and Mrs. Elwyn Dees, organist.
Pallbearers were Larry Banahan, Lynn Banahan, James Wehling, Willard Nippert, Donald Pingel and Reuben
Gretzinger.
James Busch, a grandson-in-law, had prayer at the burial service in the Fairbury cemetery.

A random obituary came over one of my Michigan watchlists a few minutes ago for a 79-year-old woman named Loretta Gump Fisher. I clicked it, and ya know, the last Ms. Gump Fisher has the most interestingly named family I think I've heard outside of fiction (or Mormons). I don't know any of these people and I feel like I can write a whole novel based on the interlaced and curliqued names alone.

Loretta Gump Fisher Loretta Gump Fisher, 79, passed away due to injuries sustained in a fall. She departed this life on September 19, 2006, surrounded by family. She was born in Detroit, Michigan and lived most of her life in Kent, Ohio. Loretta was a 1941 graduate of St. Patrick Elementary School, Kent, and a 1945 graduate of Kent State University High School. Loretta married the love of her life, Thomas H. Fisher, in 1947. She was the mother of 10 children and was preceded in death by her first child, Michael Gaylord. Loretta is survived by loving husband, Tom, and nine children: Rick (Barb) Fisher of Dexter, Michigan; Bob (Nancy Federspiel) of Menlo Park, California; Andy (Denise) Fisher of Moose, Wyoming; Sue Ellen (Rouven) Cyncynatus of Twinsburg; Barb (Jim) Boltz of Kent; Mary Jo (Stan) McGee of Colbert, Washington; Judith (Bill Rees) of Columbus; Mike (Ginny) Fisher of Stow; and Lesa (Eric) Samblanet of Pelham, AL. Loretta leaves behind 23 grandchildren: L. Scott Fisher, Zoe Fisher Schroeder, James Fisher, Tara Kendall, Emily Fisher, Zachary Fisher, Eric Kohlmiller, Megan Fisher, Kyle Fisher, Kristin Cyncynatus, Heather Lipinski, Dan Lipinski, Julia (Boltz) Bailey, Janna (Boltz) Barbour, Zachery McGee, Charlaine McGee, Vincent McGee, William Rees, Riley Rees, Haley Rees, Jackson Rees, Andre Samblanet and Luc Samblanet. Loretta and Tom were proud to have six great grandchildren: Tristan Feher, Haley Schroeder, Tyler Schroeder, James Fisher, Parker Fisher and Anderson Bailey. Lorettas brothers and sisters survive her: Bernadette (Carl, deceased) Griggy of Lawrence, Kansas, Gerald (Anita) Gump of Kent, John Gump of Stow, Ida Mae Morson of Kennesaw, Georgia, and Karen (Jim) Roach of Fort Worth, Texas. Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, William Gaylord and Nellie Avalena Meagher Gump.
