Marriage 1 : Irl Frances Grone m. 15 June 1921, b. 19 January 1898, d. 10 June 1979
Notes:
Notes for Sarah Marie Clemmens:
Obituary of Sarah Marie (Clemmens) Grone
Sarah M. Clemmens was born at Whitesville, Mo., July 23, 1896. She was reared in a christian home. At the age of
15 she was converted and united with the Baptist church at Flag Springs, Mo. In 1916, she came to Hebron, Nebr., with
her parents.
Sarah M. Clemmens was united in marriage to Irl F. Grone, June 15, 1921. The newly married couple first lived at
Carleton, after which, in 1923, the moved on a farm west of Ong, where they have since resided. Four children were born
to this union, two of these preceded the mother. The two living are: Lorna Mae, age 5 and Loren Dean, age 2.
Mrs. Grone had a pleasing disposition and was a dear friend of those who knew her. Before and after marriage, for a
period of nine years, she taught school. She attended the Methodist Episcopal church in Ong, taking part in some of the
church activities and contemplated soon to transfer her membership to the same.
Recently she became very ill with gallstone colic. To find relief she was taken to the York hospital, where she
underwent an operation for gall stone. Though seemingly all was done that could be done, she did not recover from the
operation. Patiently, without complaint, she endured her lot. Monday evening, July 6th, 1931, at twilight, the light of her
life also faded away to arise again in her eternal home.
The bereaved ones are: her husband, the two children named above; mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. E. L.
Clemmens, and two sisters, Mrs. G. E. McLaughlin and Miss Eva of Hebron; one sister, Mrs. C. R. Houseman, of Brooks,
Alberta, Canada; a grandparent, Thomas Painter of Hebron, aged 94; three nieces and two nephews.
Funeral services were held in the Methodist church at Ong. There was a large attendance, which showed esteem for
the departed and sympathy for the bereaved ones. The casket and the chancel were beautifully bedecked with bouquets. A
quartet composed of Glenda Bottom, Margaret Nelson, Jake Beck and Dean Wight, with Mrs. R. McCloghan at the piano,
sang: "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," "The Old Rugged Cross and "No Night There." Mrs. H. M. Church of Hebron, sang,
"No Tears In Paradise," and Esther Herrmann followed the sermon on a portion of the 23rd Psalm, with a solo, "The Good
Shepherd." Interment took place in the Ong cemetery, beside two children of the departed.
Those coming from a distance to attend the funeral included: Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Nippert, McDonald, Kansas; Mr.
and Mrs. Arthur Grone, Mrs. Leonard Richardson and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Grone, Diller; Mr. and Mrs. Lee A. Grone and
Mrs. H. Demaree, Fairmont; Mrs. Bessie Nippert, Ohiowa; Mr. and Mrs. Chas. McMahon and daughter, Geneva; Mr. and
Mrs Clarence Morris, Lemars, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. James Leach and Mrs. O. L. Morris, Kansas City, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs.
Ira Panter and family, St. Joseph, Mo.; Mrs. Bessie Hertle and daughter, Omaha; also the relatives and families, including
the Clemmens, Housemans, Grones, Cissnas, Browns and many others from Hebron.

Marriage 1 : Jane McCotter m. 28 December 1826 Butler County, Ohio, b. 01 January 1809, d. 25 May 1857
Notes:
Enoch George, born November 15, 1807, was about 5 when his parents moved the family to Ohio. In 1826 when he married Jane McCotter (perhaps his sister-in-law Nancy's sister?), he was 19 and she 17. Jane and Enoch had 10 children between 1827 and 1851, in three states. The George's moved to Green County, IN in the early 1840s, then joined Nancy and Reuben Jr. in Andrew County, Missouri about 1849. After Jane died in the 1850s, he lived for a time across the Missouri River in Doniphan County, KS, but returned to Andrew County before the 1860 census. Little is known of his second wife, Matilda. Enoch died in 1892, preceding his youngest child who died of tuberculosis by six months. Both were buried in McGlothlin cemetery. See pictures and notes on where members of this family lived in Andrew County. More on Enoch's family and grandchildren and more on the McCOTTER family.
