About Me

My name is Keith, and my interest in my family began when I was a child. Like so many students, one of my class projects was to learn about my family and write about it. Now, many years later, genealogy has become a regular pasttime. It is somewhat ironic that during the height of my researching fervor, the importance of my family history came home very personally with the passing of my grandfather, a true hero and remarkable human being.

Above is my brother Jeffery, my grandfather Paul Sr., me, my father David, and my brother Justin. The photograph was taken at my wedding and handfasting, and it represents three generations of Reeves. Reaching back, largely thanks to the Internet, my family history now extends well over a dozen generations on many branches, and my direct lineage extends back to Robert Ryves, the progenitor of our line. When we honored and celebrated the tremendous life of my grandfather, my dad spoke of Reeves men as storytellers, and spoke of the tapestry of our lives. Threads woven together, we Reeves have much to reflect upon, and much to be grateful for.

My wife, Katherine, has been a constant source of strength and joy in my life, and recently I have begun to explore her background seriously. We have learned a great deal of each other over the past several years, and in learning about her family, I feel I am able to appreciate it more. Together, we have been through a great deal, and learning about where we come from, I believe, will help us find the best way forward, together, as part of the ever-extending tapestry of the Reeves legacy.

From spending time in the Onondaga County Public Library with my dad and my brothers poring over old books, to meticulously poring over massive GEDCOM files for missing links, to the genealogy reading room of the Library of Congress, my work is your work. All of our concerted efforts, we Reeves, we relations, have contributed to telling the one great story of our time through the countless great stories of our moments. It has been a privilege to get to know so many remarkable people, to learn more about the people I've always known. It is my hope that sharing this work here in a single resource will enable others to learn more about their pasts and begin the same journey that has brought such joy to my life.

I believe I am well justified in having great pride in my family. However, I have since stopped studying genealogy for the sake of feeling pride, but for the love of learning about where I come from. We are all more than the sum of our parts, but we are indeed comprised of our parts, each special and unique in their own right. Teaching and learning are central to my being, and I share these resources out of a love for both. It has been a privilege to discover so many wonderful people with whom I share a connection, and I look forward to meeting many more.

I welcome any and all contact on the information found here, and am pleased to help others in any way I can.
